Founded by Darcy LaCouvee and Derek Scott and headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, we're a 50-plus person team spanning four continents, with more than 3 million YouTube subscribers and roughly 8 million followers across platforms.

  1. 2010

    It started in a coffee shop in Laos

    Darcy LaCouvee and Derek Scott, two young Canadians living abroad, meet in a coffee shop in Laos and take a chance on a struggling little Android blog called Android Authority. Their timing is perfect — Android was about to become the dominant mobile OS on the planet, and Android Authority was there from the start, obsessively covering every development. First the news, then the reviews, guides, and editorials, and a readership that kept coming back for more.

    Android Authority goes to YouTube

    We launch the Android Authority YouTube channel. It started with drop tests and took off fast, growing into a community of over 3 million subscribers.

    SoundGuys raises the bar

    Built for audiophiles and defined by one thing above all — rigorous, measurement-driven evaluation that still sets the standard today. We buy the products, test them in the lab and in real life, and tell readers what we actually found.

    A global team, new voices

    We open our offices in Vancouver, Canada — the nerve center for a team of 50+ tech experts now spread across four continents. That same year, Gary Explains launches as the channel of Gary Sims, a former engineer who turns deep technical explainers into must-watch viewing.
